Fresh sod delivered across Hillsborough County

Plenty of Tampa homeowners are happy to lay their own sod. Patching a chinch-bug spot, finishing a strip along a new paver driveway or re-sodding a small backyard is a manageable weekend job. The hard part is getting good, fresh sod to the house. Big-box stores sell pallets that may have sat in a hot parking lot for a day or two, and loading 2,000 pounds of wet turf into a pickup is not anyone’s idea of fun. Our delivery service brings farm-fresh pallets straight to your property and sets them where you need them.

We order sod cut to match your delivery day, so it arrives cool and green instead of yellow and steaming in the middle of the stack. Pallets go down by truck-mounted forklift on the driveway or a firm side yard, as close to the work area as the ground allows, so you are not hauling rolls across the whole lot in a wheelbarrow.

Grasses we deliver

Most Tampa orders are Floratam St. Augustine, the standard sunny-yard grass and the one most HOAs expect to see. For shaded yards under live oaks we bring CitraBlue or Palmetto St. Augustine. Empire Zoysia is the denser premium option. Argentine Bahia is the budget, low-water grass for big lots in Lutz and Valrico, and Celebration Bermuda works for full-sun play areas. If you are not sure which one you have, send a close-up photo of a few blades and we will match it so your patch blends in. Our Tampa sod guide explains the differences.

What a delivery includes

  • Sod cut fresh at a Central Florida farm and scheduled for your delivery day.
  • Square-footage check from your measurements or photos, with a small overage for curves and trims.
  • Forklift placement on a driveway or firm, level ground as close to the work area as is safe.
  • Help confirming the variety so a patch matches the existing lawn.
  • A printed laying and watering sheet for do-it-yourselfers.
  • Optional pallet pickup on a later trip, or keep them.

Sod delivery pricing

Pallet prices change with the farm price and the variety. Delivery-only orders carry a flat drop fee based on distance and how many pallets go on the truck. If you later decide you would rather have us install it, see sod installation for installed per-square-foot pricing.

Sod is perishable: plan your laying day

A stacked pallet of sod is a living thing packed tightly together, and in Tampa heat the center of the stack warms up fast. Ideally lay it the same day it arrives and within 24 to 48 hours at most, sooner in July. Do not soak the pallet while it waits, because wet stacked sod heats up even faster. Keep it shaded if you can, lay the outer pieces first and mist any exposed edges. Have the ground sprayed, cleared, raked level and lightly dampened before the truck shows up. Our yard prep guide lists each step, and if you would rather hand off the heavy part, bed prep & leveling gets the ground ready before delivery.

After you lay it

Water right after each section goes down, not when the whole yard is finished. On Tampa sand the first watering should soak through the sod into the soil underneath. New lawns usually qualify for an establishment period under Hillsborough County and SWFWMD watering rules, typically daily watering for 30 days and a limited schedule for days 31 to 60. Confirm the details with your utility and keep the delivery invoice as proof of the date. More details are in our watering rules guide.

Where we deliver

We drop pallets throughout Hillsborough County, including Tampa, Town ’n’ Country, Carrollwood, Temple Terrace, Brandon, Valrico, Lutz and Apollo Beach. Need mulch for the beds at the same time? Ask about combining a drop with mulch delivery.

Questions

Sod Delivery FAQs

St. Augustine pallets, including Floratam, CitraBlue and Palmetto, run $210 to $330 each. Argentine Bahia runs $150 to $240. Delivery-only orders add a flat $75 to $150 drop fee depending on distance and pallet count. We confirm the exact total in writing before the truck is scheduled.

A St. Augustine pallet usually covers about 400 to 450 square feet, and Bahia about 450 to 500. Farms cut slightly different sizes, so we confirm the coverage when we quote.

The same day is best, and within 24 to 48 hours at the latest. In Tampa summer heat the center of a stacked pallet warms quickly and starts to yellow. Do not water the stacked pallet. Keep it shaded, lay the outer pieces first and water each section right after it goes down.

On your driveway or on firm, level ground as close to the work area as the forklift can safely reach. We avoid soft, wet lawn areas, septic drain fields and anything over irrigation lines. Tell us about gates, slopes and overhead wires when you order.

A forklift on a normal concrete or paver driveway is routine. We avoid driving over turf when the ground is soft after a storm, since ruts in wet sand are hard to fix. If access is tight, we can drop at the curb.

Usually, yes. Most Tampa lawns are Floratam, but many shaded or newer HOA yards have CitraBlue, Palmetto or Zoysia. Send a close-up photo of a few runners and blades and we will identify the variety so the patch blends in.

Delivery-only orders are worth it from about two pallets up. For a single small patch, a spot repair, which has a $450 minimum, is often easier because we bring the sod and lay it.

Yes. That is our sod installation service, priced per square foot installed. Many people price both options and decide once they see the difference for their yard size.

Yes. Kill or remove the old grass and weeds, rake the surface level, fix low spots and check sprinkler coverage before the truck arrives. Fresh sod should not sit while you prep. If you want help, our bed prep and leveling crew can get the yard ready first.
