Tampa Sod & Mulch
New sod and fresh mulch for Tampa Bay yards — laid right on Florida sand, not squeezed in between a mowing route.
Chinch-bug-dead Floratam, thin builder sod, beds that have not seen fresh mulch since the last hurricane season. We install and deliver sod, mulch and pine straw across Tampa and Hillsborough County, with sod cut fresh at Central Florida farms and laid the same day it arrives.
We'll call you within one business day. If it's urgent — sod you need delivered this week, or a yard that has to look right before a closing — call (813) 733-7188 and we'll move you up.

Sod and mulch, nothing else
What we do
Sod & mulch services in Tampa, FL
One dead patch by the driveway or a full tear-out and re-sod — same crew, same standards. Every sod job starts with a grading and sprinkler check, because new grass laid over a low spot or a dry zone dies there first.
Sod and mulch are the only things we do. Not weekly mowing, not tree work, not full landscape design. That focus is why we can walk a Tampa yard and tell you in a few minutes whether the sand will hold new Floratam, whether the shade under your oaks calls for CitraBlue or Zoysia instead, or whether the beds just need a clean-out and three inches of fresh pine bark. Whatever the answer, you get a flat written price before any work starts.

Not all mulch survives a Tampa summer
The mulch you pick decides how long the color lasts, how it drains, and whether it floats down the driveway in the first 4 p.m. thunderstorm. Tap through the four we install most in Tampa Bay.
Premium Pine Bark
The work
What a finished job looks like
Sod, mulch, pine straw and edging the way we install it across Tampa and Hillsborough County — tight seams on graded sand, clean bed lines, and nothing left in the driveway when we pull out.

The difference
Bare sand and dead Floratam, or a lawn you want to stand on
Drag the handle. A dying St. Augustine lawn goes yellow, then brown, then bare — and on Tampa sand, the dollarweed and sandspurs move in the same summer.
What we check on every job
New sod in Tampa that fails early almost always fails for one of four reasons. We check all four before quoting, so the number you get is the number you pay.
- 01GradingFlat Tampa lots pond in summer storms. Low spots rot new roots, so we grade and add fill sand before a pallet is opened.
- 02Sprinkler coverageSand dries out fast. Heads that miss a corner leave a brown strip within a week, so we run every zone first.
- 03Weeds & old grassTorpedograss and dollarweed come right back through new sod. Old growth gets killed and cut out first.
- 04Sod freshnessWe schedule sod to be cut for your install day. Pallets that bake on a driveway in August heat up and yellow fast.

How your install actually goes
Four steps, in order. You will know what is happening at each one.

Free on-site estimate
We measure the yard, check grade, sun and shade, and run the sprinklers. You get a written flat price and a grass or mulch recommendation — not a range shouted over the phone.
Usually within 24–48 hours
Prep & grading
Old grass and weeds are killed and cut out, low spots get fill sand, and sprinkler heads are flagged and raised so water reaches every corner once the sod is down.
Beds and hardscape protected
Install
Fresh-cut sod laid in staggered rows with tight seams and rolled, or mulch and pine straw spread to the right depth for each bed.
Most yards finish same day
Walkthrough & clean-up
We walk the yard with you, leave a written watering schedule that fits Hillsborough County rules, haul off debris and blow off the driveway.
Watering plan in writingWho shows up
The crew in your yard
Sod and mulch are all we do — not a side service on a mowing route. You will see the same people on the estimate and on install day.

Walks every estimate and writes the price you will pay. If your yard only needs a patch, not a full re-sod, this is the person who will tell you so.

Runs full-yard installs and tear-outs: grading, fill sand, staggered rows and the roller pass that gets sod into contact with the sand.

Handles bed clean-outs, mulch depth, pine straw tucking and the edging that keeps St. Augustine runners out of your beds.
A Tampa crew, not a call center
You talk to the people who will be in your yard. We know which neighborhoods sit on shell fill by the bay and which sit under 80-year-old oaks, and we pick grass and prep for each.
Sod cut fresh, not stockpiled
Sod is cut at Central Florida farms for your install day. Pallets that sit on a hot driveway for days heat up inside and yellow, and we will not lay that.
Rainy-season scheduling
Afternoon storms wash out fresh mulch and drown sod laid in low spots. We grade for it and schedule around the forecast.
One bed is a real job to us
Plenty of companies will not come out for a single bed or a 300 sq ft patch. We will, at a fair minimum, without padding the price.
Problems named up front
If your sprinklers miss a zone or a corner holds water after every storm, we say so at the estimate — not after new sod browns out in August.
Clean site, every time
Old sod, weeds and mulch bags leave with us. The driveway gets blown off before we pull out.
Why trust us
Newly serving Tampa Bay
We are a new company, so there is no wall of five-star reviews here yet — and we would rather say that plainly than fake one. What we offer instead: a free on-site estimate, our real price ranges published on this page, and a flat written price before any work starts.

Liability coverage on every job. We send proof of insurance before work begins, and HOAs can request it for their files.
Flat written pricing
The number on your estimate is the number on your invoice, itemized so you can see what is sod, prep, mulch and haul-off.
We come back
If a seam lifts or a section was laid wrong, call us and we come fix it. We will also tell you honestly when the issue is watering, not workmanship.

Questions
Tampa sod & mulch FAQs
Floratam St. Augustine, the most common lawn in Tampa, typically runs $0.75 to $1.15 per square foot installed, so a 4,000 sq ft yard lands around $3,000 to $4,600. Bahia is cheaper at $0.50 to $0.80, and Empire Zoysia costs more at $1.05 to $1.60. Removing a dead lawn first adds $0.25 to $0.50 per square foot. We quote a flat written price on site so the number does not move.
For most sunny Tampa yards it is Floratam St. Augustine — it handles heat and sand and is what most HOAs expect. Under live oaks, CitraBlue or Palmetto St. Augustine hold up better in shade. Empire Zoysia is the premium pick for a dense, soft lawn that takes foot traffic, and Argentine Bahia is the budget choice for big, sunny lots that do not need a manicured look.
Generally yes, for a limited time. Southwest Florida Water Management District rules include an establishment period for new lawns, typically allowing watering on any day for the first 30 days and on a limited schedule for days 31 to 60, within the allowed hours. Rules can tighten during drought orders and your utility (City of Tampa, Hillsborough County or Temple Terrace) sets the details, so confirm before you start and keep your install invoice as proof of the date.
A typical residential yard is a one-day job. Full tear-outs with grading and fill sand, or lots over about 8,000 sq ft, usually take two days. We give you a realistic window at the estimate rather than promising same-day on everything.
Yes. Spot repairs have a $450 minimum, and we do not pad the price beyond that. One thing to know: fresh sod next to a lawn that is a few years older will look different in color for a season, and if the patch died from chinch bugs or a dead sprinkler zone, we fix the cause first or it will die again.
Sod can go down year-round here, but the rainy season from June through September is the easiest time to establish it because nature helps with watering. April and May are the hardest: hot, dry and windy, so new sod needs the most watering. Winter installs work fine; the grass just roots more slowly until it warms up.
Plan on topping off pine bark and cypress about once a year, usually in late winter or early spring. Pine straw fades faster and most homeowners refresh it two or three times a year to keep the color. Rubber mulch does not break down and lasts many years.
Pine straw is cheaper per bed, stays put on slopes and works well under oaks and pines. Bark and cypress hold color longer and give a more finished look at the foundation of the house. Many Tampa yards use both: straw in the big shaded beds and bark around the front walk.
Yes. Sod delivery and mulch delivery are both standalone services. Sod comes on pallets placed by a truck-mounted forklift, and mulch is dumped by the cubic yard on a tarp where you want it, with a 3-yard minimum.
Only for the estimate and, ideally, the final walkthrough. Once the price is approved, most customers leave us yard access and go about their day. We text you when we arrive, when we finish, and right away if we find something unexpected.
